“EGO” Exhibition by Takashi Murakami

The first solo exhibition in the Middle East by the renowned Japanese artist, Takashi Murakami, EGO will be on view from February 9 to June 24, 2012 in the Al-Riwaq Exhibition Hall, located on the grounds of the Museum of Islamic Art.
Heavily influenced by Japanese pop culture, Murakami excels in re-envisioning world through his unique lens. For this presentation, he has conceived of the exhibition itself as a work of art, creating new modes of display that include a cartoon balloon portrait of the artist welcoming you into the exhibition, a circus tent that doubles as an indoor cinema, and a new 100-meter-long painting that wraps around the exhibition space.
EGO will immerse you in a fantasy world that captures both the ecstasy and the anxiety of contemporary culture. This unique exhibition will be an experience that you will never forget!
